Do you take children that do not attend Cloverdale Traditional School in Victoria BC?
At this time we can only accommodate children that attend Cloverdale School. We can take children from other schools during summer if there is space.
Do you keep a waitlist?
Yes we do have a waitlist; you may register on our website or call us to add your name. When space is available we will call you in order of the date you put your name on the waitlist.
What are your hours of operation?
Our Out of School Care offices in Victoria BC are open 7:00 am – 6:00 pm. Please look here for current hours for all our programs.
What types of care do you offer?
We have before and after school care for children in kindergarten to grade 5. We have licensed preschool for 3 to 5 year olds. We also have group daycare for 3 – 5 year olds during school hours.
Are you licensed?
Yes we are licensed by the Vancouver Island Health Authority, and follow the Childcare Licensing Regulations.
What qualifications do your staff have?
All of our staff have criminal record checks and are required to have a minimum of 20 hours of training in childcare. Our preschool teachers are qualified Early Childhood Educators and Assistants.
Do you accept subsidy?
Yes, however it is the responsibility of the family to apply for subsidy and have it in place. Families are responsible for all fees until subsidy is approved. If appropriate a refund will be made when payment from subsidy is approved
Do you accept children who require extra support?
Yes we do accept children with support needs; however the family may be required to apply for a support worker to help them manage in the program.
The safety and well being of all children is very important to us, it may become necessary to ask a child to leave the program if they are unable to participate in the program even with a support worker.
Do children have to wear the school uniform in the Child Care Centre?
Children in before-school care must wear uniforms when they arrive. During after-school care most children stay in uniform, but if they want to change clothes they are allowed. They need to be able to change on their own and keep track of their clothes.
For kindergarten children having an extra shirt is a good idea. Children in our preschool wear the school uniform.
Do children take a nap during the day?
Children in school-aged care do not take a nap. Children in the group daycare have opportunities for a nap if required or for quiet time.
What happens if I am late to pick up my child?
Children must be picked up on time (by 5:55pm) from each of the programs. We will attempt to call you and those on your emergency pick up list. You will be billed a late fee of $25 per 15 minutes, or portion thereof, that you are late, per child.
If we are unable to reach anyone within ½ hour (6:30pm) we will call social services to pick up your child.
Can anyone pick up my child from the program?
No, only those designated on your registration form may pick up your child. Siblings who pick up must be at least 16 years old.
What if my child is sick?
We ask you to keep your child home if they are sick. This includes fever, vomiting, spots, diarrhea, sore throat, hard cough, severe runny nose or head lice. We may call you to pick up your child if they are ill, even if they have attended school that day.
Can my child participate in after school activities at Cloverdale School, such as sports, music, etc?
Yes, as long as parents notify us in writing children may be involved in after school activities. Please note the Child Care Centre is not responsible for your child while they are at the school activity.
How much notice do I need to give when leaving the program or changing the type of care?
30 days notice is required, or one months fee in lieu of notice.
